FAQs - Frequently Asked QuestionsWhen did Fonte Bertusi begin operating?In 1991.Who manages the business?It is owned and run by the Pisano family.Do you have rooms or apartments?We only have apartments.When can we check-in and what time is check-out?We receive guests from 4 pm - 7 pm and check-out time is 10 am.Are the prices per person or per apartment?The prices are per apartment.Can we pay upon arrival?Yes if you prefer.Is breakfast included in the price and what is served?Breakfast is included in the price of your stay, for a week's soujourn it's optional. We serve every morning from 8:30 to 10:00 in the breakfast room that looks out onto the beautiful Val d'Orcia valley. We serve a selection of sliced cured meats and cheeses that are local specialities, bread and home-made cakes, biscuits, buns, cereal, yoghurt, fruit and eggs. A cafeteria-bar with menu is also available. Our cappuccino is great!Are all the apartments in one building?Yes, the 'podere' (a centuries old multi-family farm house) has been restored into separate apartments.Do the apartments have a private garden?Yes, each apartment has its own small private garden complete with shade, table and chairs. All around the property is lovely wild garden that opens onto the breathtaking Val d'Orcia landscape.Do the apartments have a terrace?One does, and it's quite nice (il Cipresso).Do the apartments have tv? Are there satellite channels?Each apartment has a tv, with only local service.Do the apartments have telephones?No, the apartments don't have a telephone but there is a payable phone available in the reception.Is there internet service?In the reception you can use our computer.Do you accept animals?We most certainly do! Any size, there is only a small cleaning surcharge of 10 euros per stay. They can stay in the apartments and in the gardens but not in the breakfast room. However there are tables outside so one can also have breakfast in company of their friends.Are there other animals on the property?Yes. There is the big, lovable, white sheepdog named "Bianca", an extended family of cats, and of course the many animals that live wild in the surrounding countryside (pheasant, deer, wild hare, porcupine, etc.), a wild-life reserve off-limits to hunters.Do the apartments have a kitchen?Yes, and it is well-equipped with pots, plates, cutlery, glasses, etc.Is there an oven in the kitchen?No, but with a bit of notice we can arrange for you to use the oven in the breakfast room.Is there a dishwasher in the apartment?No.Is there air conditioning in the apartments? How much does it cost?The structure of the building dates back to 1700's and its metre thick walls naturally insure cool temperatures in summer and warmth in winter.Are there rooms for smokers?You can smoke in the apartments but not in the breakfast room, however there are outside tables where you can smoke.Are there some especially quiet and romantic apartments?All our apartments are quiet, special and unique. The owners are artists and in every room you will admire their work. Every apartment has a wood-burning stove or fireplace. The decor has the owner's special touch.Are the owners present during the day?The owners live on the premises and are at your disposal.Is heating included in the price?Yes, during periods established by the owners. You may request independent regulation at an extra fee.How many levels are there in the building?There are 6 apartments on the ground floor and 2 apartments on the floor above that.Is this a good place for children and families?Absolutely. There is a playground in the common garden.Are linens provided?Each apartment will have complete bedding, a bath and hand towel per person, tablecloth and tea towels in the kitchen. They are changed weekly.Is there a pool? When is it open?The pool is open from 1May to 30 September.Is there a curfew for the pool?You may use it whenever you like but it's necessary to be quiet when others are sleeping.Are there chairs and umbrellas in the pool area?Each apartment has its designated space with umbrella and deck chairs.How deep is the pool?A metre and a half.Do you supply beach towels or should we bring our own?If you don't have any, upon request, we can furnish you with some.Is there a washing machine there?Yes, there is a washing machine that guests can use for free, you just have to supply the liquid soap. The laundry dries... under the Tuscan sun.Is there a fitness centre?We have a Wellness Centre where one can relax with massage.Is there a restaurant at Fonte Bertusi?No but there are many close by.Do you have parking or a garage?We have private shaded parking for our guests.Do you sell local products and foods?We have a well-supplied enoteca with many of the more important Tuscan wines available (Brunello di Montalcino, Nobile di Montepulciano, Chianti, Morellino di Scansano, etc.), grappa and organic olive oil.Is your artwork for sale?Yes. just ask.Are you close to a road?We are in open country about 300 metres from a low-traffic provincial road.Is there a paved road or a dirt road to get to Fonte Bertusi?You must go 300 metres down a dirt road in good condition.Which are the nearest towns?PPienza 2,5 km; San Quirico 7 km.Are there grocery stores nearby?The closest is in Pienza (2,5 km).Where is the nearest bus stop?500 metres away.Which is the nearest railway station?Chiusi (45 km from here).Where can we hire a car?At Chiusi, Sinalunga, Chianciano Terme or at the airport.Which are the closest airports?Perugia 65 km; Siena 45 km; Florence 114 km; Rome 130 km.Do you have a shuttle service?No but in Pienza they have a taxi service.How far away are Florence, Siena and Pisa?Florence 1 hour and 20 min.; Siena 45 min.; Pisa 1 hour and 40 min.Are there wineries nearby?Montepulciano is 14 km away and Montalcino is 20 km. away, these are two of the most famous wine-producing cities in Tuscany and many, many wineries can be visited there. |
